Year 8s homework this week is based around using the National Statistics website. Open the site and in the ‘Find statistics for any area’ section put your postcode. This will bring up statistics for Erewash as a district. You should scroll down and select ‘Crime and Safety.’ You should get a page up with 6 links on. Using these links fill in the sheet you were given with the relavent statistics for Erewash, the East Midlands and England. You could also choose another postcode outside of Erewash to compare with.

Once you have completed the worksheet you should write about 200 words to describe the level of risk in your local area.

Year 8 Cloud Homework plus some China Pictures

If you click here then it take you some of the pictures year 8 took of clouds as part of their homework, along with a nice picture of Hornsea thanks to Mr Hawksworth and some pictures of my trip to China that I have also uploaded. I don’t know which pictures belong to who though because my phone didn’t let me edit the file name when you sent them me so if you know a photo is yours let me know, and if you want to comment on them then feel free.

Hurricane Dean Work

Year 8 were set homework to imagine they were being affected by Hurricane Dean, Chloe and Zoe in 8a1 decided to record their homework which can be found by following the links below, hopefully at some point they will be uploaded onto this site. Some excellent work and accents.

Your homework for the first lesson is to imagine you are in Jamaica during Hurricane Dean, or a Hurricane of your choosing. Rememeber there are three choices, each choice involves telling someone what the effects of the Hurricane are, you can do the homework as:

- a letter back to the UK

- a telephone call back to the UK ( this could be recorded if you have an mp3 player which will do this)

- a diary of living through the hurricane
